When the University of Tasmania needed to consolidate three (3) separate library facilities, they realised that it would take a special storage system to meet their requirements.

Brownbuilt’s reputation, established over years of supplying a wide range of quality storage systems, meant that it had a unique understanding of the University’s needs for a storage system which would-

  • Maximise storage capacity
  • Be easy for staff and students to operate
  • Provide ease of book retrieval
  • Give reliable and safe service

Working closely with TOPS Office & Business Systems and University staff over a 12 month period Brownbuilt proposed an Aladdin electrically-operated Mobile Storage System.

Brownbuilt’s Aladdin Mobile Storage System offered the campus students and staff push-button access to over 4,000 lineal metres of storage, with the latest in electronic controls and safety systems. Brownbuilt’s adaptation of the Aladdin design to meet the University’s site and access requirements included seven (7) separate access aisles, two (2) shelving heights to allow clearance under existing air conditioning ducts and a carpeted timber in fill floor with tapered ramp for wheelchair and trolley access.

Brownbuilt’s experience in project management ensured installation with minimal disruption to the University’s library functions. By selecting an Aladdin Mobile Storage System, the University of Tasmania benefited from Brownbuilt’s expertise in designing innovative and practical storage systems for improved resource and cost management.
